    $65.00/Day ~ Non-licensed-high school graduate 
    $70.00/Day ~ Non-licensed-60 or more college credit hours
    $80.00/day ~ Licensed teacher with any valid state teaching license
    $120.00/day ~ Retired teachers from any school district

    Thank you for your interest in becoming a Grade K-12 Substitute teacher in Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation. Currently, the minimum requirement is a high school diploma, a teaching license and/or a substitute teacher permit. Previous classroom experience is helpful, but not required. Please read this page completely and complete all steps before scheduling appointment.

    Please complete the following steps to initiate the hiring process:

    1. Pick up or download the application packet
    You may either download the application packet here or come in to our office during the hours of 8:00-4:00  Monday through Friday to pick up an application packet. 

    2. Apply for a substitute teaching permit.
    If you do not currently hold a substitute teaching permit naming Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation or a valid  Teacher's License, a substitute teaching permit may be obtained by registering with the Indiana Department of Education online system,
     LVIS. A tutorial is also available to guide you through this process.  Licenses issued under these guidelines will permit a substitute teacher to work for three calendar years. Please note, BCSC will not approve substitute teacher permits until an expanded criminal history check has been received.    

    3. Complete the Expanded Criminal History Check
    All BCSC employees must complete an expanded criminal history check. The background check is a 2-step process. After SafeHiring does a criminal background check, your information will be sent to the Division of Child Services (DCS). You will then receive 2 emails from KidTraks Support which is the DCS portion of the background check.  One e-mail contains a password, the other contains the link to the DCS site where you will use the password. You will enter addresses in which you have lived since 1988.  Please have this information ready when you visit the site, and leave no gaps in dates.  If you cannot locate the e-mails, please check your spam folder.  Please note:  You cannot start working until both of these steps are complete. 

    4. Submit the completed application packet

    You will need to provide your confirmation numbers for the substitute permit and background check before an appointment can be made.

    5. What to bring when you come for your appointment: 
    *Your completed application
    *Identification for I-9 (see Accepted Documents sheet in your application packet)
    *Social Security Card (BCSC requirement)
    *Voided check or letter from bank on letterhead
    *Questions you may have
    If bringing copies of identification or social security card, please make copies of both front and back. We will still need to see the originals so be sure to bring them with you.

     All applicants considered for hire after July 1, 2009, must obtain a criminal history background check subject to I.C. 20-26-5-10.  This background check must be completed through an approved entity prior to receiving an offer of employment with the cost being borne by the applicant.
