I am very excited about teaching literature at Northside this year! This is my  24th year of teaching. I taught 5th and 6th grades my first five years in Houston, Texas. Since then, I have taught middle school language arts.
I recieved my bachelor's degree from Indiana State University and my master's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. I am also a certified English as a Second Language teacher.
I have two children, Trevor and Megan. Trevor is a freshman at East, and Megan is an eighth grader here at Northside. My family and I enjoy camping, swimming, baseball, softball, and going to the beaches in Florida!

All Trailblazer students are responsible for reading AR books.
Reading is essential to success across the content areas.
Each student should be reading 20 minutes per night to gain fluency and vocabulary.

All students have an AR point goal to reach each nine week period.

    Accelerated Reader Parent Home Connect
We now have a new feature that has been added to theAccelerated Reader program called renaissance Home Connect! The Home Connect site provides you with a snapshot of your child's AR record. It includes the results of AR quizzes taken at school, the number of quizzes taken, which books they have read and quizzed on, and other relevant information.  Parents, you can even input your email address and request an update each time your student takes a quiz!  Just click on Email Setup to sign up.
Your child cannot take Accelerated Reader quizzes at home.

To access Home Connect go to: https://Hosted131.renlearn.com/122428/HomeConnect and use your child's login and password.  (Same log-in used at school)
To check whether a book is an AR book or to find the reading level of a book, you may go to http://www.ARBookfind.com.
(Lower grade interest level quizzes have been inactivated from our program)
