Parent Right to Know

September 2014

Dear Parents and Guardians:

In accordance with the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Section 1111(h)(6)

PARENTS' RIGHT TO KNOW, this is a required notification from Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation to every parent of a student in a Title I school.  The law requires that all schools receiving Title 1 funds must inform parents of their right to ask schools about the qualifications of their child’s teachers.  Your school receives Title 1 funding, and we are happy to share this information with you upon your request.

This information regarding the professional qualifications of your child's classroom teachers shall include the following:

• If the teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade level and subject areas taught;

• If the teacher is teaching under emergency or temporary status in which Indiana qualifications and licensing criteria are waived;

• The teachers’ baccalaureate degree major, graduate certification, and field of discipline;

• Whether the student is provided services by paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualifications.

All teachers at your school meet the professional requirements and are considered to be highly qualified teachers.  If at any time your child has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified, you will be notified of this by the school.

If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (812) 314-3858 or your principal.  Thank you for your continued partnership in order that we can provide your child with the best education possible.

 Sincerely,

 Laura Hack

Director of Title Services
