         Biology is a required High School course that deals with living things in a variety of contexts.  We will start off with the interactions of living things with each other an the environment around them.  Then we scale down to learn about cells and their processes.  From here we move onto genetics and heridity

 

 

1st 9 Weeks - Ecology

1-5

Students will learn about the world around them and the interactions that take place between organisms and thier environments.

2nd 9 Weeks - Cells

Chapters
6-9
Everything about cells.  From cellular chemistry, to cell structure and function, to cell reproduction.  We cover it all!

3rd 9 Weeks - Genetics

Chapters 10-13

We will learn about our genetic material and how this information determines our physical traits.

4th 9 Weeks - Evolution

Chapters 14-17

we start this unit with geologic time and then go through how living organisms have changed over time.

Our year ends with the Indiana Core 40 Test.  This test is written and administered online through the state and has replaced the ISTEP in High School.  This is a "high stakes" test.  Student scores will appear on transcripts and they must pass the test in order for their credit to count towards their Core 40 Diploma.  For more info, visit the Indiana Department of Education website concerning Core 40 Tests.
