Columbus East High School Buddy Pair Exhibits Lifelong Commitment
Good news from Best Buddies Indiana...

Columbus East High School Buddy Pair Matthew Tatlock and Chris Harper exemplify a superb one-to-one friendship. Students in Special Education Advisor Peggy Myer's class all complete a process referred to as “Person Centered Plan.”

It is used to help individuals with disabilities plan their future by “circling” them with people who are important to them in their life. These people support them in planning their future and implementing that plan.

Matthew Tatlock invited his Peer Buddy, Chris Harper, and the Columbus East Best Buddies Chapter President, Amber Lykins, to attend his important “Person Centered Plan” meeting. Chris and Amber were able to contribute to Matt's meeting by giving the perspective of a friend.

Chris and Amber also found ways they could support Matt in reaching his goals. Matt is now going to help Chris complete his Senior Project.

Peggy Myers stated, “Best Buddies gave [Chris and Matt] the opportunity to become connected when they might not have otherwise. The two of them have taken it [their friendship] to another level through their strong commitment.”

Chris expressed his commitment to Matt as “lifelong.”
