  • 2018-2021 School Calendar

    The 2018-2021 official calendar has been approved by the school board. 


    Two major changes include Thanksgiving Break decreasing from 1 week to 3 days and the "snow make up days" of Spring Break moving to the FIRST week of break. The only guaranteed week of Spring Break will be the second week. These changes will begin with the 2018-2019 school year.

    Senior Elizabeth Frazier earns Indiana Academic All-Star distinction

    The Indiana Academic All-Stars program is sponsored by the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP). Each high school in the state is allowed to nominate one student. IASP selects only 40 of those nominees to be named Indiana Academic-All Stars. Elizabeth was one of the students selected, and she chose Mr. Derek Chastain, a science teacher at CEHS, as her most influential educator. Both were honored at a luncheon on April 27th in Indianapolis. Congratulations, Elizabeth and Mr. Chastain!

    Columbus East FCCLA recently competed in the state FCCLA Leadership Conference in Muncie, Indiana.

    Congratulations to Nick Booth and Caleb Davidson who won Gold and are national qualifiers in FCCLA STAR event competition, Promote FACS and FCCLA. The two created an FCCLA chapter at Central Middle School with help of Central Middle School FACS teacher, Katie Arnholt. They will be attending the national conference and presenting their event in Atlanta from June 28-July 2. Both have been FCCLA members for three years and officers for two years.

    Nyah Jessie, Ashlyn Book and Noah Shoaf - Bronze in Interpersonal Communication

    Ellie Simpson - recipient of the Hurt Scholarship Award

    Mrs. Karen Nading - 2018 Indiana FCCLA State President's Award

    The chapter was awarded Gold in multiple categories: Honor Chapter, 50 Members in 50 Days, and Scholarship Donor. FCCLA Leadership Conference winners  

    Congratulations to Juniors Mckenzie Brown and Mark Nusterer!

    Mckenzie Brown's Sylvester's Sly Smile         Mark Nusterer's "Ice Flow"

    Mckenzie Brown’s colored pencil drawing, “Sylvester’s Sly Smile”, recently won a National Silver Medal. Her drawing is nationally in the top 1% of art work in the Scholastic Awards. She will be recognized in a video presentation at the awards ceremony in New York City.


    Mark Nusterer’s ceramic vase, “Ice Flow”, has been selected as part of a year-long traveling Central and Southern Indiana Student Regional Art Tour and will be displayed at the Indianapolis Art Center, the Indianapolis Arts Garden and the Cultural Arts Center at IUPUI.
