Students are enjoying using the portable Kindle lab and teachers are also using the Kindles in small stations to monitor App downloads.

On Friday, March 29 there will be a school wide Read-a-thon and Celebration Day.

        • Currently $18,600 and projected $14,200 at year end before field trip assistance and remaining teacher startup receipts reimbursed.
        • Second Semester Teacher startup money – $50 each

Receipts due this Friday  (Mar. 15)

·         PTO will fund Soccer Nets replacements on the playground field. Approx. $210 + shipping  

·         Staff is reminded to use the PTO fund request form for all requests vs. verbal requests.  Forms are in the PTO mailbox in the office copy room.

 

  • Committee Reports (30 min.)
    • McTeacher Night in February: $461 (Thank you Wendi Rodabaugh)
      • Profit is split between PTO (25%) and volunteering teachers (75% split between all who participate)
      • Plan to continue one McTeacher night in both fall and spring and move to the National Road McDonald’s where the former west side Manager works now.

 

    • Tri-fold Science Project Boards sales in a.m. after Spring Break (Karin Scarbrough) $3

 

    • Science Night: Thursday, April 11, 5:30-7 p.m.

      • Reminder Fliers to go home first week of April (Wendi)
      • Schedule of evening:
        • 5:30-6:00 Browse projects/Silent Dessert Auction
        • Suggestion to put a reserve price on desserts that varies by type. i.e. $5 reserve table, $2 reserve table, etc… (Karin S., Sharon H. and Kendra Z.)
        • 6:00-6:30 Lisa Porter and CSA students on stage
        • 6:30-7:00 Browse projects and pay for/claim dessert
        • 200 FREE parent gift packs from PtoToday.com

 

 

    • Staff Appreciation Week is May 6-10
      • Amie Shoemaker will email out requests to volunteers and organize donated food/drink items each day
      • Possible Texas Roadhouse donation to be looked at.

 

    • FIELD DAY THURSDAY, MAY 30
      • Primary a.m. session/Intermediate p.m. session
      • 10-15 volunteers needed for each to cover 13 sessions, water table and Popsicle table at end.
      • TBD -- 6th grade tournament is usually in between (11:15-12:45) but the teachers are suggesting not to separate them out (Email:In the past, 6th grade has had some alternative activities in comparison to the other grade levels due to behavior.  We think that this group can handle and would enjoy more of the activities that are being offered to other grade levels.  An activity that we know they like is the four-way volleyball game that they do in P.E..  I'm not sure when PTO will be discussing this, but I just wanted to put a bug in your ear.  Thanks!)

      • Suggestions for encouraging better involvement:
        • Mr. Boezeman suggested hosting a parent night out for PTO members to make plans while he and Ms. Davis chaperone kids playing in gym or have an animal demonstration brought it.
        • Separate Rocket Booster Newsletter that is not mixed in school newsletter
        • Separate Rocket Booster info to go home after Open House when overwhelmed with so many papers.
        • Better information throughout the year about what PTO is and how to get involved – even mid-year.
