Thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute teacher in Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation. Currently, the minimum requirement is a high school diploma, a teaching license and/or a substitute teacher permit. Previous classroom experience is helpful, but not required.
Please complete the following steps to initiate the hiring process:
1. Pick up or download the application packet
You may either download the packet here or come in to our office during the hours of 8:00-4:00 Monday through Friday
2. Submit the completed application packet along with verification that you have completed the LVIS permit request.
If you do not currently hold a substitute teaching permit naming Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation, one may be obtained by registering with the Indiana Department of Education online system, LVIS. A tutorial is also available to guide you through this process. Licenses issued under these guidelines will permit a substitute teacher to work for three calendar years. Please note, BCSC will not approve substitute teacher permits until an expanded criminal history check has been received.
3. Complete the Expanded Criminal History Check
All BCSC employees must complete an expanded criminal history check. The background check is a 2-step process. After SafeHiring does a criminal background check, your information will be sent to the Division of Child Services (DCS). You will then receive 2 emails from KidTraks Support which is the DCS portion of the background check. One e-mail contains a password, the other contains the link to the DCS site where you will use the password. You will enter addresses in which you have lived since 1988. Please have this information ready when you visit the site, and leave no gaps in dates. If you cannot locate the e-mails, please check your spam folder. Please note: You cannot start working until both of these steps are complete.

All applicants considered for hire after July 1, 2009, must obtain a criminal history background check subject to I.C. 20-26-5-10. This background check must be completed through an approved entity prior to receiving an offer of employment with the cost being borne by the applicant.
